Harmony

This series of images, entitled "Harmony", is inspired by the alchemical theory of the same name. According to this theory, put forward by the famous alchemist Paracelsus, the universe's macrocosm was represented in every person as a microcosm, and so the seven planets of the sky, seven metals of the earth and seven centres (organs) of the human body were linked together. My images attempt to symbolically portray each of these seven groupings, and in doing so explore the nature of the human body, and its place in the enormity of the universe.

These images are representative of my wider interests in the field of photography. I specialise in studio-based, digital portraiture. Inspiration for my work is often drawn from mythology and folklore but a common theme in much of my photography is a particular focus on the human form. Through intimate close-ups of the nude body, I explore the unique nature of each person's outer shell and attempt to understand our relationship with our bodies.
