On the surface we may all appear calm and relaxed, carrying on with our everyday lives as if we don't have a care. Yet underneath we may feel alone, vulnerable or isolated. We can experience these feelings for different reasons but whatever the reasons the impact can be devastating. Indeed it can be life changing. In this project I have examined visually, some of the causes and effects of isolation. This includes a study of, loneliness, child neglect, old age, Alzheimer's, Diabetes and blindness.

As a photographer I love to photograph people. People are so complex and yet so simple, I love to watch their faces and study their behaviour. Whether it be portraits or weddings it is immensely rewarding to see people getting pleasure from an image that I have created.

It has also been rewarding undertaking projects like 'Isolation', delving below the surface, getting to know people more intimately and documenting personal and sometime sensitive aspects of their lives. I hope to develop this further or undertake similar projects in the future.
