Tony Pope presents

In Situ

"In situ," from the Latin "in its place" is a photographic project that shows people in their own environment. This work explores people in the workplace, in Cambridge. It is also a study of the "environmental portrait." This shows people in their natural surroundings, which gives us visual clues about their life and who they are.

I enjoy seeing the world through the lens of the camera. This leads me to explore different genres of photography, to look at the world in different ways. Of all the subjects I like to photograph, the portrait somehow offers more. For me, no other form of photography is quite as exciting. It offers the challenge of saying something about a person, perhaps showing a real glimpse of their character.
