Simon Butler presents
The main aim of this piece of work was to show the decline of housing estates within the south London area. It also shows how the economic crash has affected the lack of regeneration in these areas of society. I felt this was an important area to look at due to our current economic status. Converting the images to black and white has helped emphasise the lack of standards for living conditions.
During a work placement with an architectural photographer, I have enjoyed doing several different photo shoots of architectural work. This new genre has given me the chance to transfer my skills and apply them in an unfamiliar field.
Music photography, both live and promotional, has been an interest to me since I began as a photographer. Music has always been a big part of my life and I want my work to show that.
More recently however, I have started getting more passionate about portraiture photography. This is because I like being able to control the lighting and positioning of the model. It also gives me the chance to try new things to create interesting images.
