Different Strokes

Stroke is seen as something that may affect you in old age however every year in the UK 31,000 people under the age of 60 have a stroke, (600 people a week or 85 people a day).

Recovery from stroke is difficult and often slow and it is imperative that survivors are given the support they need.

These photographs touch on the lives of a group of survivors in Cambridge that I have had the privilege to get to know. In this collection are a number of portraits and a book containing images and material that illustrate the unique individuals who have shared with me their stories - at times, funny, thought provoking and sad. It shows that stroke can affect you regardless of age or background and that with help from friends, family and charity groups like Different Strokes, life goes on.
