Eve Miller presents
30th March - 6th April 2009 - Ghana, West Africa
For this module, I decided I wanted to revisit a village in Ghana, which I'd visited two years ago. The purpose of the trip was to take photographs of what the organisation Mat-to-Fore, had been doing in Kotei. One of the main things Mat-to-Fore and volunteers had done in the village was to design and build a Preparatory School for the children who were too young to go to the main school in the next village. I wanted to take portraits of these children, who will strive for a better tomorrow.
Since picking up the camera for the first time, portraiture photography has been my main interest. I enjoy the challenge of taking good portraits of people, but also trying to portray their character through the image.
Non-Government Organisation (NGO) photography first came to my attention after my trip to Ghana in 2007. Since then I have wanted to travel to various other African countries to take more portrait photos.
